Dr. Susan Salvo

Dr. Susan Salvo has an expansive background in Massage Therapy. Having graduated from the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics in Albuquerque, she has an impressive career both practicing and teaching massage spanning four decades. Susan has led and directed numerous massage programs and continuing education courses using in-person and digital formats. She currently serves in multiple capacities on national boards and committees, including the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards, the National Certification Board for Massage and Bodywork, and the Massage Therapy Foundation. Susan is a champion for research in complementary therapies and is a trusted educator—she has written multiple textbooks integral to the massage community and authored numerous articles and presentations promoting the benefits of massage. In 2014, Susan was awarded the first Lifetime Achievement Award by the American Massage Therapy Association. Her driving force in life is to be of service to others.

Outside of massage, Susan enjoys spending time with her husband Michael, and their children. Susan is a yoga enthusiast with a dedicated practice, and is frequently found walking her dog, Duke, at sunset. A perpetual student, she devotes time expanding her own knowledge by reading and attending courses online and abroad. Susan is currently studying psychology and literature at the University of Louisiana.

Susan Salvo, a native of Louisiana, has a doctorate in educational leadership from Lamar University and a master’s degree in instructional technology from McNeese State University. Susan’s writing, teaching, and research efforts focus on advancing the fields of massage, holistic health, and higher education.
